Matt Ahearn

Grit. Determination. Solutions.

I am a father, volunteer soccer coach, and am proud to call Warrenton-Hammond home. We can propel WHSD to be a place of inclusivity and transparency, a place teachers want to work and want to stay, and a center of community pride and unity. Our school board establishes the policy and culture to achieve these things. As a member, I will advocate for:

  • Continuing funding and staffing to engage homeless and at-risk students. Much of this work is grant-funded, yet as a former Attendance Advocate, I know this work assures that no one is forgotten in our district.

  • Listening to our teachers and encouraging active problem-solving, so that they are heard, supported, and well-resourced. We do this through building community between teachers, administration, and the board, and we do to it by utilizing feedback and establishing advisory committees to advise administration.

  • Increasing parental involvement in our schools, so that parents experience transparency. Our parents will strengthen our district with their wealth of knowledge about their students, expertise, and fresh perspectives.

  • Driving efforts to provide more options for students to receive life and career skills at school. This will empower our students to explore their passions, enter their post High School world with tangible life skills, and have more options to build their futures.

  • Creating a relational and inclusive culture at WHSD that will positively impact our community. We do this by putting people first, by setting the example in how we treat and speak to one another, and listening to each other’s stories and cultures.

I look forward to our future endeavors, and I appreciate your consideration in this election.
